Article: Thank You, 2021 Hello, 2022

Our People

Thank You, 2021 Hello, 2022

Our founders Winnie and James look back on 2021 with gratitude, and forward to 2022 with new hopes and intentions

Here we are. Against all odds, we’ve made it to the final chapter of 2021. To get here, we have weathered storms, fought battles both internal and external, and overcome really difficult things. But there have been silver linings — tiny moments of joy, peace, and beauty that have put a smile on our faces and kept us going.

It has been quite the journey since Bynd Artisan started in 2014. We founded Bynd Artisan to celebrate the art and joy of crafting, and to infuse meaning into gifting — personalised and customised leather and paper gifts that are timeless and that could accompany you through the seasons. Crafting workshops are also conducted every month for participants to learn a new skill, and be involved in the process of creating their own products from scratch.

Over the years, we have had the pleasure of working with many collaborators, such as Ministry of Design, Singer/Songwriter Gentle Bones, multidisciplinary studio OLIVIA LEE, to create unique, exclusive collections and to add greater vibrancy to the art scene and promote creative talents beyond their usual realm. This passion for design extends to corporate gifting with bespoke creations and custom personalisation, enabling clients to share the perfect gift from the heart.

In the course of only a few years, Bynd Artisan has accumulated a number of prestigious accolades, which included the President’s Design Award for Design of the Year in 2016, and the Best Shopping Experience at the 2017 Singapore Tourism Awards; it has been named a Passion Made Possible Ambassador in 2018, and awarded both the APEC BEST Award for International Attractiveness and the Made With Passion National Brand Mark in 2020.

This year, we focused on providing you a seamless and pleasant shopping experience both online and in our ateliers, and we introduced our loyalty programme. There were also a few interesting and memorable collaborations: Tùgether — A Mochi Mooncake Experience with Sunday Folks, creation of the Christmas-themed Leather Brooches with ION Orchard and SPD, #JustOneThing with Halogen Foundation, “Little Black Book” by Olga Iserlis, and an exclusive collection for Lee Wei Song School of Music.

We’ve continued to engage with our community through The Season of Gratitude Campaign, Be Kind With Bynd Artisan with Cherin Sim and Singapore Kindness Movement, An Ode To The Men Who Mentored Us, and Inspired to Challenge.

A highlight of this year has to be our partnership with Sunday Folks to create a brand new lifestyle experience with the opening of the Bynd Artisan + Sunday Folks ION Experience Store.

To conclude, we'd like to say a heartfelt "thank you" to all the support you have shown us over the years. We will continue to innovate and provide unique experiences. Looking forward to new adventures with renewed hopes and aspirations in the next chapter. May all your intentions and dreams be fulfilled in 2022.
